The first concert includes Schubert’s Eighth Symphony and Brahms’s Second, while the second falls on the St. Valentine’s Day and will have Dutch violinist Janine Jansen as soloist. She will play Mendelssohn concerto and the orchestra will conclude with Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra.
This will be the orchestra’s first visit to Hong Kong. The orchestra came with Riccardo Chailly in September 1993 (Thanks Savio for the information and readers for pointing this out!). The concert dates fall on the annual season while Hong Kong usually embraces the annual Hong Kong Arts Festival. Unlike previous years, the festival has yet announced any visiting troupes in their 40th annual gala in the currently-staging 39th.
