The musical Obsession was an original musical, organized by students from Chung Chi College, Chinese University of Hong Kong, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the college. The music of the musical is composed by Li Cheong, Zoe Ma, Siu Tin Chi, Winnie Tse, Alfred Wong and Dennis Wu, while Dennis also served as the music director of the musical.

The Overture, a potpourri in nature, is the only composition of Dennis Wu in this musical. It starts with a fanfare, the falling-fourth motif is immediately heard in horn and trombone. The fanfare returns after some melodic exposition between, this recurrence paves a way to the middle section. The middle section, moderate in speed, is a lyrical aria that sung by the main characters in the beginning and the end of the musical. This full aria exposition ends with the return of fanfare, which also leads to a joyous final.

The piece served as an encore piece for the concert “Chamber Music by Dennis Wu, Wong Kong Yu, Alfred Wong and Li Cheong” on February 18, 2003. The four composers were at the pianos.
